What is radon mitigation?

Radon Mitigation is the process used to reduce radon gas concentrations in the breathing zones of occupied buildings.

What is the Radon Eliminator mitigation process?

It is easy to fix your Radon gas problem, but it definitely will require some planning.

During our initial testing visit, we looked at seven key points of Radon gas incursion. We developed a step-by-step plan based upon your particular needs to correct the underlying problem.

The Radon Eliminator Process; Installation Performed the Right Way

The initial part of the Radon Removal process is to search for a quality suction point that allows easy access, is aesthetically pleasing, and gives us the best possible outcome for success.

Once we have the right suction point, our team will begin drilling a 5" hole into your basement slab to deploy the Mitigation system.

After the hole is bored out, our contractor will decide the depth needed for the "communication pit" based on soil sampling and substrate material review.

This is a vital step because the proper dimensions of the communication pit allow the ventilation fan to draw air from beneath the slab and direct Radon out of the house. If the pit is too small, it won't have the proper suction capacity to direct the radon.

After digging out the communication pit, the contractor will analyze a discharge point to exhaust the radon gas safely outside the house.

This part is essential to ensure that the radon is removed does not have the opportunity to reinfiltrate the house because of a poorly routed Radon Removal System.

Now that the proper discharge point has been identified and cut out, we can begin the pipe fitting process.

The pipe fitting process begins by sealing the pipe base that goes immediately into the ground. Sealing will be done using a backer rod to fill in the gap and finished with an industrial-grade caulk that doesn't outgas.

Since the initial piping is in place, the contractor will choose the best pipe pathway. Then, the Radon Eliminator team will connect the PVC pipes with a chemical welding agent to prevent any leaks in the piping system and connect the ventilation exhaust fan along the pipe pathway.

Optimal installation of the exhaust fan is essential to ensure it has enough suction to propel the active radon gas from beneath your basement out of your home.

How do you know the installation is working properly?

After the piping system is in place and all other possible incursion point cracks are filled, the contractor will ensure the ventilation system is working properly by setting a system monitor gauge.

The last step is for us to test the suction power of the system by performing post installment tests.

We will make sure that smoke is being drawn down into the basement floor. This action gives us a quality measurement of the suction effectiveness for pulling Radon gas out of your home.

After the Radon Mitigation system is installed, it runs without any real maintenance or upkeep! Breathe easier in your North Canton home now free from high Radon gas levels.
