What is Radon Mitigation?

Radon Mitigation is the process used to reduce radon gas concentrations in the breathing zones of occupied buildings.

What is Radon Eliminator's mitigation process?

It is easy to fix your Radon gas problem, but it requires proper planning and work to get it done right the first time.

During our initial testing visit, we took a look at seven key points of Radon gas intrusion and developed a concise plan based upon your home needs to correct the underlying problem.

The Radon Eliminator Process; Installation Done the Right Way

The primary part of the Radon Removal process is to search for a quality suction point that allows ease of access, is aesthetically pleasing and provides the best possible outcome for success.

Once we find the right suction point, our team will drill a 5" hole into your basement slab to deploy the Mitigation system.

After the hole is drilled out, our contractor will need to determine the depth necessary for the "communication pit" based on substrate material review and soil sampling.

This step is vital because the proper dimensions of the communication pit allow the ventilation fan to draw air from beneath the slab and expel Radon from the house.

If the pit doesn't have the proper dimensions, it won't have the proper pull to direct the Radon out.

After digging out the communication pit, the contractor will find a suitable discharge point to exhaust the radon outside the house safely.

This part is essential to ensure that the Radon being eliminated does not have the opportunity to reinfiltrate the house because of a poorly routed Radon Removal System.

After the right discharge point has been identified and drilled out, we begin the pipe fitting process.

The pipe fitting process begins by sealing the direct access pipe base into the ground using a backer rod to fill in the gap and finished with an industrial-grade caulk that doesn't outgas.

After the base piping is put in place, the contractor will choose the best pipe pathway for the Mitigation System. Then, the Radon Eliminator team will connect the PVC pipes with a chemical welding agent to stop any potential leaks in the piping system and connect the ventilation exhaust fan along the pipe path.

Correct installation of the exhaust fan is essential to ensure enough suction to draw the active Radon gas from beneath your basement out of the home.

How do you know the installation is working properly?

After setting the piping system in place and all other possible intrusion point cracks are sealed, the contractor will ensure the ventilation system is functioning properly by placing a system monitor gauge.

The last step is to run post-installation tests to make sure that the system is working properly.

After the Radon Mitigation system is installed, it runs without further maintenance or upkeep! You can breathe easier now because your Hudson home has been purged from dangerous Radon levels.
