What is the Radon Eliminator mitigation process?

It is easy to remediate your Radon gas problem, but it definitely will require some work.

System Installation Done The Right Way

The first part of the Radon Removal process searches for a quality suction point that allows easy access, is aesthetically pleasing, and gives us the best possible outcome for success.

Once we have the right suction point, our team will begin drilling a 5" hole into your basement slab for the deployment of the Mitigation system. After this, our contractor will decide how large the "communication pit" needs to be based on a soil sample and substrate material analysis.

This is a critical step because the correct dimensions of the communication pit create the proper pathway to draw air from beneath the slab that directs Radon out of the house. If the hole is too small, it won't have enough suction to draw the Radon out.

After the pit has been dug, the contractor will analyze a good discharge point to exhaust the radon gas outside the house. This part is essential to ensure that the removed radon does not have the opportunity to reinfiltrate the house because of a poorly routed Mitigation System.

Now that the proper discharge point has been identified and drilled out, we can begin the pipe fitting process. The pipe fitting process starts with sealing the pipe base directly into the ground. This will be done using a backer rod to fill the gap and finish with an industrial-grade caulk that doesn't outgas.

After setting the initial piping, the contractor will choose the right pipe pathway. Then, the Radon Eliminator team will connect the PVC pipes with a chemical welding agent to ensure no leaks in the piping system and install the ventilation fan along the pipe pathway.

Installing the exhaust fan in the proper location is key to making sure it has enough suction to pull the radioactive radon gas from beneath your basement floor out of your home.

How do you know the Mitigation installation worked?

After the piping is in place and all other intrusion point cracks are filled, the contractor will install a system monitor gauge to ensure the ventilation system is working correctly.

The final step is for us to test the system's pull by drilling a small pilot hole in a separate section of your floor. We will make sure that smoke is drawn down into the basement floor using a smoke pencil. This lets you know that the suction is adequate for pulling Radon gas out of your home.
