 Radon Mitigation in Westlake, Ohio

Does your home in Westlake, OH, have elevated levels of Radon Gas?

You will need to contact licensed radon mitigation professionals.

Radon mitigation systems are designed to reduce the concentration levels of radon gas inside homes and buildings.

What is the Process for Installing a Mitigation System?

Installation Performed the Right Way

When your home contains elevated radon gas levels, you will need a licensed company to install a removal system.

Specific guidelines will need to be followed to ensure your system is installed correctly and up-to-code.

1. Radon Eliminator begins the installation process by locating a quality suction point that is easy to access and offers the best outcome for the system's success.

2. A 5" hole will need to be drilled into the sub-slab of the basement to deploy the system.

The technician needs to get the size of the hole correct, or there will not be enough suction to draw the gas out of the home.

3. Next, the discharge point will need to be located. This is where the gas will be exhausted from the house.

The location that is chosen mustn't give the gas a chance to re-enter the home.

4. Once the discharge point has been located; the contractor will begin the pipe fitting process. This process includes sealing the pipe base that goes directly into the ground.

The technician uses a backer rod to fill the spatial gap and finish with an industrial-grade caulk.

5. After the piping is placed, the technician will need to choose the pipe pathway.

This is also when they will use a chemical welding agent to connect the PVC piping and ensure no leaks in the piping system.

6. The last step is for the ventilation fan to be placed along the pipe pathway. Your Radon Eliminator mitigation specialist can connect the exhaust fan on the outside of the home or, in some cases, inside the garage attic.

Radon Mitigation Fan

The ventilation fan pulls the radon from beneath the home, up through the pipe pathway, and out into the atmosphere.

How Will You Know If The Mitigation Was a Success?

Once the installation process is complete, a technician will leave a radon test in the home's basement for 72 hours, collecting data.

If the system is working correctly, the radon levels should be reduced below the EPA recommended action level. If, for some reason, that is not the case, the team will come back and do whatever needs to be done to bring the levels down at no additional cost to you.
